on taking time to smell the flowers...

when i bought my first DSLR four years ago ...[[wow I can't believe its been that long , but anyway]] ... I had no intentions to ever be a professional photographer - shoot weddings or families ...

I wanted to learn because of these moments right here...

to capture our every day life in a beautiful way that i would enjoy in the years i am old & grey... & to shoot my design projects ...

flash- forward to now , where a good chunk of my business is photography.

i owe a lot to my friend ...  Tanille of Tanille Williamson Photography  for helping me get started & falling in love with the art by having me help her second shoot that first wedding...

from that day forward ... my fate was sealed ... a guest at that wedding hired me to photograph their engagement & wedding the following year

[ despite the fact I told them before this wedding i had taken one picture of a succulent that was severely underexposed with my shiny new camera ...]

things just snowballed from there & i just fell in love with the quietness & present-ness I felt behind the lens...

since that time, I have learned so.much.

having a camera in hand for me is about being present & focusing on those tiny moments...

worrying less about getting the perfect shot & more about capturing the feeling in the moment...

& freezing it in time ...

this moment of curiosity on my daughters face ...the grass brushing her legs & the scent of wild flowers...

& sharing it with her daddy ...

these are the moments that make my heart smile ...

life raising babies & running your own businesses can get a little hectic but - I have learned in every day there is always ...even a small window of a moment ... to be present .

...coming up we have ten days together as a family [ im forcing myself to leave my laptop at home ] & i can't wait to spend a little relaxing time just soaking it all in, recharging alllll the batteries ... & probably spending some quiet quality time behind the lens as well ...;)
