lets head east

seven years .

since i finished my summer working ' down east ' , came home, got married off & went to college ... seems like forever ago & yesterday all at the same time ...

it was so good to get back & pay a visit to some great people + fall in love with all the rocks, water + trees all over again ... if you haven't made it to the eastern part of our great country yet ...you should . this is just a wee taste of it ...

first stop: world's longest covered bridge & home town to the most delicious [ ever ] potato chip factory ... if you ever see ' Covered Bridge Chips' in the store . buy em ...

we also enjoyed a few blissful lake days ...

& even got in on a delicious fish fry + birthday / engagement celebration ... brookie made a sand pool for the kiddos which resulted in really sandy bums + soggy pajamas ...

reluctantly leaving the serenity of the lake + great company behind ... we hit the trail for PEI & made a stop at Hopewell Cape ... where at low tide you are able to walk on the sea floor & explore amazing rocks, seaweed + barnacles [ loootttts of tourists but worth seeing once!]

we snagged a sweet lil air bnb in charlettown the first night on PEI ... our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer...

in the am - we hit up the ' Anne of Green Gables ' homestead ... again ... heaps of tourists but i was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the house ... it was quite quaint

the little town of Avonlea boasts some sweet little shops, a wood fired pizza place [ the decor helped lure me in ]

Cavendish Beach was a hit & the red sand is soooo pretty [ really, everything about the landscape in PEI is pretty ... ] Finn had a blast spending the afternoon here & filling everything with sand ... a bath in the tiny sink in the washroom was necessary ...

these lupins along the roadsides are just gorgeous ...

our last night was spent with this sweet little fam ... sincerely hoping our next trip in the eastern direction is before seven years time ... time has this way of getting away ...
